More about me:
Life is full of ups and downs. It can feel isolating when struggling with our mental health and it is important to build up coping skills and a support system we can reach out to when experiencing challenges in life. Sometimes we need additional support to get through life’s challenges and that is completely okay. I understand that it can be hard to take that step in reaching out for help. I am here to support, guide, and help you through this process.
I strongly believe every individual is unique and therapy needs to be tailored to each person’s needs, strengths, and values in order to assist them in reaching their full potential and therapeutic goals. I believe it is critical in our work together to collaborate in developing the best fit treatment plan for you in order to reach your therapeutic goals. My goal in working with you is to assist in developing an understanding into who you are along with communicating, and processing feelings associated with life’s difficulties. We will work together in developing healthy coping skills and problem solving skills that will not only be helpful in the present moment but the future as well.
I have a passion for helping people and truly love what I do. Being a therapist is my calling in life, which shows in the work I do with all my clients. I have experience working with individuals of all ages, as well as extensive experience working with adolescents, teens, and young adults. When working with children, it is crucial to work with parents and caregivers along the way and assist them in the challenges that can be associated with raising a child. And when working with families, I like to ensure the needs of each individual within the family unit are being met.
I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of San Diego and my master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University. I have had the pleasure in working with individuals of various cognitive functioning levels (including children with autism), mental health diagnoses, victims of abuse, and families of varying socio-economic status.
It is my passion to help individuals, children, and families from a trauma informed lens in reaching their goals and full potential. This experience has guided me into becoming the therapist I am today. I have extensive training and experience working with individuals who have experienced various types trauma in their life starting from childhood and my therapeutic style begins with a trauma informed approach. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Trauma Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Managing and Adaptive Practice (MAP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness.
I grew up moving around Texas and other states in the west. I am happy to have had many life experiences which led me back to the wonderful state of Texas living in such a beautiful community. I was a competitive athlete growing up and believe I was able to develop many helpful life skills that molded my young adult life. I enjoy spending time with my husband, family, friends, and my pups.
I appreciate your confidence in me as a clinician and have no doubt we can do great work together. I look forward to meeting you and helping you reach your therapeutic goals!
