More about me:
Counseling is no simple commitment. It’s about being willing to step into the uncomfortable which is no easy task. You’re searching because you want to have or have hope there is more to life. Healing begins in the context of relationships and connection. I believe relationships have a profound impact on our wellbeing. Working from the belief that our relationship is a collaborative partnership, our relationship will be the foundation on which we do therapeutic work. My hope is for you to have a space where you can be authentic and feel safe to move toward a healthier version of yourself.
When first getting started with my clients, I believe it’s important for me to get to know you and for us to spend some time understanding where you’re at and where you’d like to be. This ultimately helps me help you. I use a blend of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), person-centered therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Christian Counseling, and mindfulness in my counseling. Some sessions, this may mean there is homework and some sessions we may see where our time together takes us. I have found each person is unique in how we experience life and also how we heal. I promise to work closely with you to understand your’s and how I can help you best.
I began my professional career as a CPA (certified public accountant) in the business world until about age 25. Sometime after college, my passion for mental health began to grow. This lead me to pursue education and training for counseling in order to do what I love, which is helping people become healthier versions of themselves. I received my masters degree in counseling at Dallas Theological Seminary. As part of my graduate work, I spent time interning in residential treatment and also have a strong desire to help those in recovery. As I am a Christian, my faith shapes and drives how I treat my clients. However, I enjoy working with all types of clients including those who share different beliefs. I’ve worked with a wide variety of mental health concerns including those struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and other mental health issues. I also love working with new mothers and young mothers. As a mother, I understand the challenges and difficulties that can come with being a mom and learning how to manage life with kids.
My husband and I, along with our three children live in Lewisville, Texas. My immediate family has lived in this area for over 20 years, so we consider Texas home. Outside of my time counseling, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, being outdoors, volunteering with Young Life, and bridging the gap between the church and mental health.
I consider it a privilege to be in this with you and look forward to helping you become a healthier you!
