At Harvest Counseling & Wellness, we work with children starting at the age of 3 years old and up. Our goal is to help young people learn to communicate their feelings and good coping skills in order to function at their correct emotional age. Through the process we keep communication open with their legal guardians, while still keeping details of the individual sessions confidential with the young clients.
We help young people through traumatic experiences, gaming related issues, porn issues, alcohol/drug related issues, suicidal ideation, custody disputes, behavioral issues, bullying issues, school/sport performance issues, adoption/foster adjustments, ADHD issues and more.
We aim to create a safe and fun therapeutic experience for children and teens, as well as helping them connect with their families through family therapy.
Play therapy can be a successful modality because children often communicate and express themselves through the act of play instead of verbal communication. It is utilized to help improve behaviors, boost self-esteem, healing of trauma, conflict resolution, life adjustments/transitions due to divorce or school changes. During the process, we provide parents with insights into themes we discover through the child’s play and provide encouragement through the difficulties of parenting.
We also work with parents/guardians in order to teach them some of the same skills we teach the kiddos. Raising children in this day and age is challenging with modern technology and the influx of information what young people have access to. We are here for you and can help at every age and stage before you have to send them off to face that big world by themselves.
We utilize Child-Centered Play Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy, Art Therapy, EMDR Trauma Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and other techniques to help the individual clients. We will incorporate family therapy and parenting classes when necessary.
